What Prophet Was Swallowed By A Whale
Jonah Jonah is the central figure in the Book of Jonah, which details his reluctance in delivering God’s judgement on the city of Nineveh, and then his subsequent, albeit begrudged, return to the divine mission after he is swallowed by a large sea creature. What is the story of prophet Yunus?

Yunus was immediately consumed by the greatest whale in the seas upon hitting the water, precisely as Allah had instructed. Yunus, who had been unconscious for some time, awakened to discover that he was engulfed in complete darkness. He had the impression that he was in his grave, but as his senses started to come back to him, he realized that he was actually within the stomach of a giant fish rather than in his grave.

  • Prophet Yunus made a prostration to Allah while he was deep within the stomach of a whale.
  • He exclaimed, “O Allah, I am prostrating to you in a location where no one has prostrated to you before.
  • I am prostrating to you in the stomach of a fish.” After that, he cried out to Allah, saying again and over, “Nobody else save you deserves to have adoration bestowed upon them.

You are to be praised. In all honesty, I count myself as one of the people who did wrong.” The inhabitants of the depths of the ocean were able to hear Yunus’ invocations, and as soon as they did, they flocked to the whale in order to take part in the celebration and sing Allah’s praises with him.

The sincerity with which Yunus expressed remorse touched Allah, the Most Merciful, to great depths. He issued an order to the whale, telling it to vomit out His Messenger on the coast that was closest to them. Yunus was thrown out of the whale when it reached the nearest land and fulfilled Allah’s order to do so.

Because of the acids that were present in the whale’s gut, Yunus’s entire body became inflamed. Since he had no shelter from the heat of the sun or the chill of the wind, Allah caused a tree to grow on top of Yunus so that it could supply him with both food and shade.

Allah pardoned him and told him that Yunus would have remained in the stomach of the whale till the Day of Judgment if it weren’t for his genuine invocations, but Allah had mercy on him and had forgiven him. As soon as Yunus had made a full recovery, he embarked on the journey back to Nineveh to finish what he had started.

Yunus was taken aback when he returned to his birthplace and saw that every single person in Nineveh had converted to Islam and was eagerly anticipating his arrival. Yunus and all of his people bowed down to their Lord and praised him for all of the benefits that He had bestowed upon them.

How long did Yunus stay in the whale?

The accounts of Muslims’ most revered prophets To help guide humankind in the right direction, Allah had dispatched a total of 124,000 Prophets. These prophets did not get their mandate all at once but rather at various points in history over distinct time periods.

Adam, may Allah be pleased with him, is considered to be the very first Prophet, and Muhammad is considered to be the very last (PBUH). The Quran, which is the Holy Book that was given to the last Prophet, together with the Sunnah of the Prophet, is the source of instruction for all Muslims (PBUH). Both of these sources include evidence that discloses the names of a few Prophets.

In addition, both of these sources have disclosed fascinating tales concerning a number of the Prophets. In this section, we shall discuss a few instances and true stories that occurred throughout Hazrat Yunus’s life. The people of Ninevah were instructed to listen to the words of the prophet who is also known as the Lord of the Fish (Dhan-Nun).

  • The people who lived in the city of Nineveh were immoral idolaters who had no sense of shame in their daily lives.
  • What’s left of the ancient city of Ninevah in Iraq Instead of just being a mere prophet, Hazrat Yunus a.s.
  • was a Rasool.
  • It is a sunnah of Allah SWT that anytime he sends a Rasool towards a group of people and those people refuse to listen to him, Allah would curse them severely and wipe away the entire group of people.

This is because it is a sunnah of Allah SWT. We have seen this take place with the people of Aad, as well as with the people of Thamud and a great number of other nations. Ahead of the invocation of the curse, Allah instructs his Rasool to depart the city since He intends to obliterate its inhabitants.

  • On the other hand, in the instance of Hazrat Yunus a.s., he parted ways with the people of Ninevah a short while before getting explicit permission from Allah to depart the region.
  • This is the reason why Allah taught him a lesson through the occurrence that will be detailed below.
  • People would not listen to Hazrat Yunus A.S.

when he preached the doctrine of Allah because they thought it was irrelevant to their lives. He experienced disillusionment and reacted aggressively by fleeing Nineveh. He left Ninevah by means of a ship, but unfortunately, the ship capsized due to the fact that it was carrying a large number of passengers, which caused it to become heavy.

This resulted in him being tossed overboard. Because it was so impossible to continue the voyage without incident, one of them had to be sacrificed in order to save the others. Unfortuitously, Hazrat Yunus A.S. was knocked unconscious. After that, he was consumed by a massive fish, and he remained within that fish’s stomach for three days.

There is a prayer that was made by Hazrat Yunus A.S. throughout these three days, and it is known as the dua. In times of difficulty, believers in Islam recite this verse from the Holy Quran. Muslims may be found in every region of the world. “You alone are the only deity that exists; you are highly revered.

In point of fact, I was one of the people who did wrong.” – Quran 21:87 The fish obeyed the command of Allah and spit him out upon a shore. He was sick and had a delicate feeling all around. Allah cultivated a plant specifically for him that had leaves that shielded him from the stinging insects and the blazing rays.

He used to get his supply of fresh milk from a goat that was wild. Hazrat Yunus a.S. went back to Ninevah once he had recovered his health and continued to teach the word that Allah had given him. This time, the people paid attention to what he had to say, and they put their trust in Allah.

  1. Allah pardoned them despite the wrongs they had committed in the past.
  2. Nineveh was the capital city of the ancient Assyrian kingdom.
  3. It was located on the east bank of the Tigris River and was encompassed by the current city of Mosul in Iraq.
  4. Nineveh was the oldest and most populous city of the Assyrian empire.

Who was the most beautiful prophet in Islam?

Joseph is considered to be one of the most venerated persons in the annals of Islamic history, according to many scholars and believers. Joseph, who sprung from a particularly illustrious line of patriarchs that included Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, was also endowed with the gift of prophecy, much like his ancestors.

  • This was also demonstrated by the fact that Joseph was given a staff of light that had five branches, as Kisai, one of the most influential authors on the lives of the prophets mentioned in the Quran, explains.
  • On the first branch was inscribed “Abraham, friend of God,” on the second branch was written “Isaac, pure of God,” on the third branch was written “Ishmael, sacrifice of God,” on the fourth branch was written “Jacob, Israelite of God,” and on the fifth branch was written “Joseph, Righteous of God.” It is possible that the Qur’anic narrative of Joseph is one of the most complete depictions of the life and actions of a prophet that is found in the Book.

As a figure, Joseph is representative of the quality of beauty since his life was, in and of itself, a beautiful thing. Joseph is revered as a great preacher of the Islamic religion because he had an extraordinarily deep dedication to God and because he attempted to convince people to follow the path of righteousness.

  1. However, this is not the most significant reason why Joseph is appreciated.
  2. In the Qur’an, Joseph’s profession of faith is recounted.
  3. He says, “And I follow the ways of my fathers, Ibrahim, Is-haq, and Ya’qub; and never could we attribute any partners whatsoever to Allah: that (comes) of the grace of Allah to us and to mankind: yet most men are not grateful.” This verse can be found in Surah 12 (Yusuf), Ayah 38.

Additionally, it is said that Joseph possesses all three qualities that should be present in a perfect statesman: Joseph possessed the following skills: pastoral ability (developed while Joseph was young and in charge of his father’s flocks); household management (from his time in Potiphar’s house); and self-control (as we see on numerous occasions, not just with Potiphar’s wife): “He was pious and God fearing, full of temperance, ready to forgive, and displayed goodness to all people.” (Joseph 1:39).

Which prophet was put in the fire?

Abraham was cast into a fire, which the man later described as making him feel “calm” and “at peace.”

Which prophet split the sea?

The Israelites, having eluded the Egyptians and now being followed by them, come to a halt as they reach the water’s edge. This event is known as the “splitting of the sea.” The Israelites told Moses that they would be defeated by Pharaoh and his army if they continued on their path.

In answer, God gives Musa the instruction to strike the Red Sea with his staff, telling the people that they do not need to worry about being submerged or drowning in the water of the sea. Upon making contact with the water, Musa causes it to separate into two halves, creating a passageway through which the Israelites are able to go.

The Pharaoh and his army are present when the sea begins to part; however, when the army attempts to cross through the opening, the sea begins to close in on them. Pharaoh, who is nearing the end of his life, professes his faith in the God of Moses and the Israelites, but God does not accept his confession of faith.

According to the verses in the Quran, the body of the Pharaoh was turned into a symbol and a warning for all of the generations to come. As the Israelites travel further into the Promised Land, they run with other people who are worshiping various forms of pagan deities along the way. The Israelites make a request to have an idol to worship, but Moses declines their request and warns them that God would punish anyone who worship several gods.

They are provided with manna and quail by God as a source of sustenance, but the Israelites beg Musa to pray to God that the land will also provide them with lentils, onions, herbs, and cucumbers as a source of food. When the Israelites are forced to pause on their journey to the Promised Land owing to a lack of water, God gives Moses the instruction to strike a stone, and as a result of the impact, twelve springs emerge, one for each of the twelve tribes who make up the Israelites.

Which prophet was thrown in the fire?

The incredible power of the flames – The mob chanted that Ibrahim should be set on fire. They want retribution for the harm done to their sacred objects, and the blood of Ibrahim was the only thing that would suffice. Nimrod, the king of Babylon, and his priests gave their approval to the choice to set him on fire while he was still alive.

  1. The news spread quickly, and as a result, thousands of people from over the kingdom traveled to the location to watch the execution.
  2. The earth had a massive hole made in it, which was then stuffed with wood.
  3. It was the most massive blaze that anyone had ever witnessed.
  4. Ibrahim was handcuffed, and his wrists and feet were tied closely together.

Then, he was placed in a large catapult that was designed to launch him into the flames. At that that time, the Angel Jibreel appeared before Ibrahim and asked, “Is there anything you want for?” In his response, Ibrahim stated that all he wished for was for Allah to be pleased with him.

  • He could have asked for anything, but rather of pleading for his life to be spared, he decided to seek God for his blessing instead.
  • He could have begged for anything.
  • Allah will never consent to the Prophet’s death via crucifixion.
  • He gave the fire the instruction to behave calmly and gently toward Ibrahim, and it did as he commanded, consuming just the shackles that were on Ibrahim’s body.

When Ibrahim emerged from the blaze, there was not a single drop of perspiration on his body, nor was there any trace of smoke on his garments. Astonished onlookers cried out, “Ibrahim’s God has spared him from the flames!” as they gasped in shock.

Noah, who also goes by the name Nuh (Arabic:, romanized as N), is said to have been a prophet and messenger of God in Islamic tradition. The Ulu’l-azm prophets count him as one of their number. The task given to Noah was to deliver a message of caution to his people, who had fallen into a state of moral decay.

Noah was tasked by God with the responsibility of preaching to his people, counseling them to forsake idol worship in favor of worshipping only God, and to lead lives that are good and holy. In spite of the enthusiasm with which he proclaimed the Message of God to his people, they were unwilling to change their behavior, which resulted in the construction of the Ark and the Great Flood.

There is some debate over whether or not the Great Flood occurred on a worldwide scale within the Islamic faith. According to the Quran, the period of time during which Noah served as a prophet and preached lasted 950 years. Both warning his people and pleading with them to call for repentance were part of Noah’s job.

Yaqub ibn Ishaq ibn Ibrahim (Arabic: يَعْقُوب ابْنُ إِسْحَٰق ابْنُ إِبْرَاهِيم, literally: ” Jacob, son of Isaac, son of Abraham ” Yaqub (Arabic:, romanized as Yaqub; also later Israel, Arabic: ; Classical/Quranic Arabic: ), also known as Jacob, is a prophet in Islam.

His name is alternatively spelled Israel (Arabic:, romanized as Israel). He is revered throughout the Islamic community as a patriarch. In the eyes of Muslims, he preached the same monotheistic religion as his ancestors Abraham (Ibrahim), Ishmael (Ismail), and Isaac ( Ishaq ). There are sixteen occurrences of Jacob’s name in the Quran.

Jacob is said to also be mentioned by name in two other passages that allude to Isra’il. Jacob is listed in the bulk of these passages with other Hebrew prophets and patriarchs as an old and devout prophet who remained in the “company of the elect.” These passages describe Jacob as having this status.

Jacob is considered by Muslims to be Isaac’s son, and throughout his life, Jacob is believed to have taught about the unity of God. According to Islamic belief, Jacob had twelve sons, each of whom would later become the father of one of Israel’s twelve tribes. This belief is similar to that of Christianity and Judaism.

Jacob has an important part to play in the narrative of the life of his son Joseph (Ysuf). In addition, the Quran makes it very apparent that God formed a covenant with Jacob, and that God commanded Jacob to take on the role of a trustworthy leader. All of his family members, including his grandfather Ibrahim, father Ishaq, uncle Ismail, son Yusuf, and himself, are considered to be prophets in Islam.
